The short version
This website sets no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies. It stores one small item in your browser to remember your answer to the cookie banner. That is currently the whole story. If that is all you needed to know, you can stop reading here.
What a cookie actually is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise your browser next time. Related technologies — local storage, pixels, tags — do much the same job by different means. For simplicity we call all of them “cookies” on this page.
What this site uses
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
tg_consent_v1 | Strictly necessary (local storage) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the banner does not reappear on every page. | Until you clear it, or 12 months |
That is the complete list. There is no Google Analytics tag, no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no advertising or remarketing tag on this site today.
Strictly necessary items do not need consent
Storage that exists purely to deliver a service you asked for — including remembering that you declined analytics — is exempt from consent requirements under the EU ePrivacy rules and the equivalent guidance elsewhere. We still tell you about it, because you should not have to take our word for what is on your machine.
Fonts, and why we self-host them
Many websites pull their typefaces from a third-party font network. That looks harmless, but it quietly sends every visitor’s IP address to that provider before the visitor has agreed to anything — which a German court found to be an unlawful transfer under the GDPR.
We serve our fonts (Poppins and Inter, both open-source) from our own server instead. Nothing about your visit is transmitted to a font provider. There is no cookie involved and nothing to consent to.
Third-party content
We do not embed third-party video players, social media widgets, live-chat tools, maps or comment systems on this site. Nothing loads from another company’s servers when you open a page here.
We do link out to the Abbas Bin Haider Group website, to the brands we represent and to retail platforms that stock our products. Those are ordinary links — nothing loads until you click — but once you arrive, that site’s own cookie practices apply.
Analytics: what will change, and how you will know
We intend to add website analytics so we can see which pages are useful and which are not. When we do:
- It will load only after you press “Accept analytics”. Declining, or ignoring the banner, means it never loads at all.
- We will name the tool and list its cookies in the table above before it goes live, not afterwards.
- We will configure it for measurement only — no advertising features, no cross-site remarketing.
How to change your mind
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time:
- On this site — clear your browser’s storage for topgeargt.com and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- In your browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all let you block or delete cookies and site data, either for every site or for this one specifically. Look under Settings → Privacy.
Blocking storage for this site has no effect on anything except that you will see the cookie banner every time.
